G4S sharp-shooters Snigdha Manda (India) and Sharmin Akhtar (Bangladesh) were in delhi last week to pay a surprise visit to a very special school in the city.
The two friends dropped in on the Shiksha school, a G4S-funded community initiative situated in a slum area of Delhi, to donate brand new sports equipment and 60 new desks and chairs from the G4S 4teen programme. The 60 children who attend Shiksha could not believe their luck as two of the region's top shooters took part in a special sports morning and handed over the school's first ever sets of sports equipment including basketballs and nets, skipping ropes, and badminton sets.
An amazing morning was rounded off with a special lunch provided by G4S, followed by a photoshoot and autograph signing with the two athletes. Snigdha, who hails from Hyderabad in India, was touched by the morning's events, saying: "it is so lovely to be able to come to a school like this which is giving young children from disadvantaged backgrounds a great chance to progress. Sport is always something that unites people and the kids today seemed really happy with their new kit and it was amazing to see how excited they all were to start using it!"
