Charly Suarez is one of the most promising young talents in a country renowned for its unique boxing ability.

A young man hailing from Davao City, Charly moved to live and train with the country's best coaches and athletes in Baguio City, where he also attends university.

The featherweight boxer won an impressive gold medal at the 2009 South East Asian Games, and now looks set to build on the momentum that this success has generated.

In 2009, in light of his impressive string of results, Charly took the decision to temporarily take a break from his studies, in order to focus on his boxing. It is a decision that, according to his results, clearly seems to be paying off.
