G4S 4teen mentor Haile Gebrselassie and the G4S 4teen visit childrens home.
14 January 2009
During the Regional Training Camp in Nairobi in January 2009 the four African G4S 4teen athletes and their mentor Haile Gebrselassie visited St Paul’s to open an impressive new scheme that G4S helped St Pauls fund and deliver – a self sustaining poultry project. The athletes and Haile helped put the finishing touches to the chicken enclosure before declaring it officially open. The project now grows from strength to strength providing the home with food as well as income.
After spending the day meeting, playing and dancing with the children the athletes then revealed a new table tennis table they gave to the children as a present. G4S 4teen’s Table Tennis star, Zodwa Maphanga from South Africa then enjoyed the afternoon teaching the youngsters the basics of the game and how to use their new gift.
It was a unique and memorable day for everyone and none more so than Haile: “This project is wonderful, they not only provide these children with a home but they provide them with love and hope too. As I leave here today I am very proud to be associated with G4S who are doing great things such as this.”
