G4S 4teen mentor Haile wins the Dubai marathon for third year in a row
22 January 2010
G4S 4teen mentor Haile Gebrselassie won the Dubai marathon for the third consecutive year today.
The great distance runner had hoped that this third victory would also see him break his own world record, but unfortunately injuries were to conspire against him achieving this feat. Haile was suffering from a back injury on the day of the race, which meant that he was unable to perform at this best. However, this still did not stop him pulling away from the field in the last few miles of the marathon and finishing in an impressive time of 2:06:09, 14 seconds in front of the runner-up.
The fact that Haile has now won the Dubai marathon for the last three years is an impressive achievement in itself, and only further cements his place as one of the great marathon runners of our time.
