G4S 4teen Nigerian sprinter talks to BBC World Service about his experience
4 February 2011
G4S 4teen athlete and Nigerian sprinter, Obinna Metu, has returned from having ‘the time of his life’ in Jamaica, training with Usain Bolt and his coach Glen Mills. One of the G4S 4teen athletes, Obinna was given a unique opportunity to spend the last 2 months training alongside the fastest man in the World and his expert sprint coach.
The charismatic young athletics star has risen quickly to the top of his sport, having already competed at both the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2009 IAAF Athletics World Championships, and he is fast becoming a man to take notice of on the international stage.
Last week Obinna said farewell to his new found friends in Jamaica and headed home to Nigeria with a short stopover in London. On his way, Obinna made time for a radio interview with Russell Fuller from the BBC World Service programme Sportsworld, and spoke of his amazing experience in the Caribbean courtesy of G4S. The interview will be broadcast on BBC World Service on Saturday 5th February at 14:30GMT. UK listeners can tune in online at www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice .
