Bangladesh's sharp shooter moves closer to the range and tests out her new rifle
22 February 2011
G4S 4teen shooter Sharmin Akter has been given the opportunity by G4S to re-locate to Dhaka with her family so that she can be closer to the National training facilities. Until recently Sharmin has been travelling between her village of Pabna and Dhaka which is over 6 hours apart by road to attend training. With the LondonOlynpics in 2012 in sight her coach and the national team have highlighted that she needs to have uninterrupted training if she wants to succeed. G4S Bangladesh have made this possible by helping Sharmin move to an apartment in Dhaka which is based close to the National Shooting range. She was also provided with a new air rifle to help her performance.
Sharmin will have the support from the G4S Gulshan branch to ensure her and her family are settled and have all the support they need following their move.
‘Making the move to Dhaka to be close to the shooting range will give me the opportunity to improve my scores and reach my dream of competing at London 2012. I thank G4S for make it possible for my family to make this move with me and giving me this very special opportunity’
