G4S 4teen BMXer wins her 14th world title

Marianna

1 August 2011

G4S 4teen BMX rider Mariana Pajon won the women’s elite BMX World Championships in Copenhagen this past weekend.

Mariana, who has already won 13 world titles since winning her first medal in the sport at the age of nine, led the pack from the start of the race to finish with a gold medal, beating out New Zealander Sarah Walker, who came in second.

When asked how it felt to be crowned a World Champion, Mariana said: “I don’t know! I’ll have to wake up tomorrow and then believe it!”

This is Mariana’s second year competing at the elite level. She will next compete at the Olympic Test Event in London from 19-20 August. The event is one of the first to be held in the London 2012 Olympic Park.

Congratulations to Mariana, and watch out for more updates on G4S Sport.
