Despite not finishing the Berlin Marathon on Sunday, Haile will work to qualify for the Ethiopian team

Following a tough race in which the double Olympic champion pulled himself out of competition due to breathing problems, Haile insisted that he would keep working towards his long time goal of competing at London 2012.
Haile’s world record time in the marathon of 2:03:59, set on the very same course three years ago, was broken by Patrick Makau of Kenya, who ran a very fast 2:03:38 to win the men’s elite field by nearly two minutes.
“It was a disappointing result today,” he tweeted. “I really trained well for a fast time, but under WR was too fast for me.
“At 27k I got problems with my lungs again. I am sure I will get it under control as it is still my dream to compete at London 2012!”
