G4S is a silver level sponsor of Skandia Team GBR - the British Sailing Team in the Olympic and Paralympic Classes
G4S has been a leading supporter of Skandia Team GBR since 2006. The world’s top Olympic Classes sailing nation, having topped the medal table at the past three Olympic Games in 2000, 2004 and 2008, Skandia Team GBR continues to dominate the sport at international level and has high hopes of continuing its success on home waters at the London Olympics in 2012.
Skandia Team GBR consists of three squads; the Performance, Development and Transitional squads, which comprise a total of around 70 sailors. The team competes across all 10 Olympic classes - Finn, Laser Radial, Laser, 470 (men and women), 49er, Star, NeilPryde RS:X (men and women windsurfers) and the Women's Olympic Classes Match Racing. In additon, the team competes in the three Paralympic classes - Sonar, 2.4mR and SKUD18.
Alongside its long term partnership with Skandia Team GBR, G4S is also proud to sponsor two of the leading 49er class boats in the Performance Squad. Rival crews Stevie Morrison / Ben Rhodes and Chris Draper / Peter Greenhalgh will be going head to head over the coming years in their common quest to qualify as Great Britain’s representative in the 49er class at their home Olympics in London.
G4S is backing them and the whole Skandia Team GBR squad, all the way to 2012 as the journey towards the Olympic waters in Weymouth takes shape.
