G4S 49er's racing postponed by strong winds
31 March 2010
The predicted strong winds blighted the third day of racing for most classes at the ISAF Sailing World Cup event in Palma on Tuesday, with only the windsurfers and women’s match racers seeing any action. This meant that the G4S 49er’s are going to have to wait to build on their impressive start to the regatta, which G4S 49er Stevie Morrison said had given them a huge confidence boost going into the final stages.
Fellow G4S sailor Peter Greenhalgh commented on the conditions that had stopped the 49er’s getting out on the water: “As predicted there was too much wind and the seas were massive. The 49ers wouldn’t have lasted 5 minutes! ”
It is hoped that racing will resume tomorrow, with the start of the finals, with the medal races still planned for Friday.
