G4S 49ers Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes are back in the medal hunt over in Holland this week, at the Delta Lloyd Regatta

The Delta Lloyd Regatta in Holland got under way yesterday, and G4S 49ers and Beijing Olympians Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes were looking to add to their World Cup medal tally, following on from their bronze medal in Palma. The duo made a good start to the Regatta, but a late slip-up, where they finished in 25th place in one of the later races, meant that they fell down the leader board to 12th place. However, they are certain that it will not be long until they start to climb back up into medal contention. Stevie commented on the days racing, “After a few eventful days of training, the racing today took place in some very patchy and shifty winds. We got off to a good start in the first three races, but in the final race, a slight shift lefts us a bit hung out on the left of the course, and from there we couldn’t claw our way back into contention. Although we sailed well, it was a pretty average first day for us. It looks as if this is going to be a very high-scoring regatta so we will keep going, and hopefully things will go our way.” At the end of the first day, Skandia Team GBR are well placed amongst the various leader boards, with a couple of the early stand-out performers being Nic Asher and Elliot Willis who are in top position on the 470 men’s leader board, and Lucy Macgregor and her team who secured a 100% record in their opening round of the Elliot 6m women’s match racing event.
