More medal success for Skandia Team GBR in Holland

Although The Delta Lloyd Regatta did not lead to further medals for G4S 49er duo Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes, the pair were the best of the British 49ers at the Regatta and finished their final race in third place, leaving them in 8th position overall. Elsewhere, there was medal success for Skandia Team GBR, with Nic Asher and Elliot Willis taking Gold, winning the men’s 470 title on the Ijsselmeer waters. Nic Asher commented on the victory, “The win is good – we’ve had a barren spell so it’s good to be back on winning form and hopefully it’ll continue in July for our World Championships.” In addition to the one Gold medal for the team, there were also Silver medals for Nick Dempsey in the RS:X and Lucy Macgregor-Nicky Muller-Ally Martin in the women’s Match Racing. The trio of Macgregor-Muller-Martin, were unlucky to miss out on Gold, having deployed some aggressive match race tactics, that saw them claw their way back into contention, winning the third and fourth matches. This meant that the final match was a decider, that they unfortunately narrowly lost. Bronze medals were won by Bryony Shaw in the RS:X Women and Helena Lucas in the 2.4mR.
